That’s what we did too. We also put a T-shirt over the top for even more of a Hocus Pocus you coulda had a bad witch Halloween shirt. Exactly what I was going to say. My son is 9 with special needs and I have this hack down. The trick is to make sure they’re snug enough so that they can’t get their arms out, then you sew a snap above the zipper so they don’t try and pull it apart. Zipper pajamas work great! I didn’t cut the feet off of them though. I just ran a diaper pin through the zipper and never had that problem again.

You don’t have to cut the feet off. If there’s enough length in the legs, you can just rotate the leg fabric 180 degrees and have the toes point forward but the zipper in the back. This won’t work when they’re starting to outgrow them because there’s not enough fabric to allow the “twist.”
